NEW Button-fixes to be launched at Timber Expo 2015
At this year’s Timber Expo we will be launching our latest additions to the Button-fix range. In response to customer requests and feedback, we have expanded the ways in which Button-fix can be used.
So what are the new products?
Type 1 Flush is for applications where panel-to-panel contact is required. It fits a simple oval rebate on either the edge (where the panel must be at least 28mm thick) or on the face (where the panel must be at least 18mm thick). As the name indicates this allows you to fit panels together with no gap in between – a request often made by fitters and specifiers.
The Type 1 Flush is ideal for:
- edge fixing of panels greater than 28mm thick, in particular hollow core panels;
- ‘no gap’ fixing of panels at least 18mm thick (we recommend Euroscrews for fixing into panels 18-22mm);
- furniture construction, for example, secret fixing of drawer fronts or connecting work surfaces to carcasses;
- exhibition stands;
- peg rails.
Type 1 Bonded is for applications where screw fixing is not possible and bonding is the preferred option. Like the original Type 1, this Fix is reversible and can be either surface-mounted or rebated to suit the needs of the project. Where possible, rebating the Fix will give additional strength and make alignment easier.
This Fix is manufactured in ABS plastic to suit a wide choice of adhesives. We have tested some combinations of commonly-available adhesives and panel materials. However, you should always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations to find the right one for your specific application.
When convenience and speed of fitting is paramount, we also offer self-adhesive Fix-pad for lightweight applications. This accessory, which needs to be ordered separately, is pre-cut to match the outline of the Fix and has an easy-peel backing.
The Type 1 Bonded, with appropriate adhesive/self-adhesive pads is ideal for:
- decorative wall cladding using solid surface materials, compact laminate sheets less than 12mm thick, honeycomb core panels, metal panels, glass panels or reconstituted stone;
- boat interiors;
- point-of-sale displays;
- white boards;
- interior signage.
Finally, our NEW Router Jig –is transparent with etched guide marks to make it easy to position on the work piece. It also comes with interchangeable plates so that you can use it with all the new products as well as the original Type 1.
