These case studies show how Button-fix was used in different ways to create easy to install, adaptable environments for audio professionals.
When acoustic consultants, Studiofonic, were commissioned to design a state-of-the-art dubbing studio, they chose Button-fix to invisibly mount all their stretched-fabric panels. The panels are constructed with a softwood box frame, with Type 2 Buttons screwed to the inside face. The mating Fixes are attached to the wall structure whereby the upholstered panel engages with a straight push - ideal for fitting wall-to-wall and tight to the ceiling. Quick to install, the panels are also easily removable when required for maintenance or repair.
David Mimouni, who co-founded Studiofonic with Michael Ebbo, has more than 20 years' experience in the music industry. He commented: "I want to thank you for your Button-fix products. With the help of the Button-fix Type 2, we created excellent finishes for a dubbing studio using fabric-stretching techniques."
The second case study is a home mixing studio built by Guy Joyner, an audio engineer. His company, Sine-Post Audio Limited, provide mixing and mastering services to a worldwide portfolio of clients. His challenge was to create a suitable acoustic environment for his work in a period house with many unsuitable hard surfaces and corners. Guy chose the Type 1 Flush Button-fix because the narrow form of the fastener allowed it to be installed close to the edge of the panel, fixing into the solid perimeter frame of the acoustic panel. The Buttons are mounted onto the back of each panel and connect to surface-mounted Fixes on the walls, doors and ceiling of the old house, where the home mixing studio was located.
Button Marker accessories helped with the setting out. Guy explains: "I found it quick and easy to mark up and surface-mount the Type 1 Flush for the acoustic panels in my studio, even on uneven surfaces. The fact that I can also detach the panels for cleaning and maintenance without having to unscrew any of the mountings is a real bonus."
Wudl is an architectural-led sustainable home manufacturer based in Manchester. They design and build modular engineered timber frame panels using natural insulation such as sheep’s wool and wood fibre. Their founder, Ric Frankland, describes their latest project and how it benefitted from Button-fix.
"Button-fix inspires confidence as a fitter." We listen to cabinet makers who use Type 1 Flush for their made to measure furniture and hear their experience on a recent kitchen fit-out.
The consultancy, with years of experience in recording studio design, build and acoustics, have tried many different fixing methods for acoustic panels and found nothing came close to the efficiency and ease of Button-fix.
