Video commentary:
Hi, I'm Philip Hall, Technical Manager at Button-fix. We are often asked, how many Fixes do we need on a panel, on a wall or a ceiling? So, we're going to have a look at this today.
Our general advice is that, regardless of the panel weight, Button-fixes should be no more than 24" (600mm) apart, otherwise the panel may not be adequately supported.
So, to hang an 8' (2.4m) tall panel you'll need five rows of Button-fixes.On this 5' x 2' (1500 x 600mm) ¾" (18mm) ply panel, which weighs about 22 lbs (10kg), we've used six Fixes. Four would be fine in either Type 1 or Type 3, which we've used here, but we've added an extra two in the middle for stability.
Because this is rebated we have a ⅛" (3mm) flange thickness, which means we've used ⅛" (3mm) packers at the edge of the adjacent panels to give a good, flush finish.
