Button-fix Type 1 Bonded

Ideal for thin panel materials

For use where screw-fixing to the panel is not possible and bonding is the preferred option. It can be either surface-mounted or semi-rebated and works with a broad range of materials.

The Fix housing is moulded from ABS and the Button is 30% glass filled nylon PA6 - both strong and robust engineering polymers. There are many structural adhesives suitable for bonding ABS to a wide range of panel materials, for example, a 2-part structural acrylic adhesive, a matched adhesive for solid surface (Corian®, Hanex®, etc.) or solvent weld for bonding to acrylic.

As a general guide, four Button-fix Type 1 Bonded fasteners on a vertical panel will support loads weighing up to a maximum of 80kg (175lbs), however, this can vary significantly depending on the adhesive and substrate material combination. Always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations on substrate suitability, preparation and loadings. Manufactured in the UK.

The Type 1 Bonded Fix can be surface-mounted, creating an 8mm gap between the panels, or semi-rebated to reduce the gap to approximately 2mm. Engage the Buttons in the Fix and slide the panel down by 15mm, until Button-fix goes 'click'. The Type 1 Bonded Button-fix can be configured for sideways assembly too.

Accessories for Button-fix Type 1 Bonded

Button Marker Type 1

The Button Marker for Type 1 helps to quickly and accurately align the Button-fix installation, reducing the need for measuring and marking out.

Snap a marker into each Fix, then position the second panel and press firmly. The marker points will leave indents in the panel surface, which can be used as pilot guides for the Buttons.

Router Multijig Type 1

The Multijig helps when machining the oval recesses required for rebated configurations of Button-fix.

The Multijig frame is clear acrylic, so that you can see the workpiece below, and has printed guide marks. It has three clearly labelled apertures dimensioned to suit the Type 1, Type 1 Flush, Type 1 Bonded and Type 1 Metal Fixes.
